This Is Gonna Be a Fun One

It's been one week since second semester got going. A week! Sure seems a lot longer than that...

As some of you might know, my last semester was fairly rough. Grades turned out alright, but I promised myself that I wouldn't make the same mistakes again. I thought I had done a good job of applying those lessons to this semester, but I guess as an Oliner, I can't help but be as busy as is humanly possible.

On to the next one

Hey there, readers!

Before I talk about what's happening in my life, I thought I'd throw in a bit that may be relevant for some of you.  Some of you are anxiously awaiting news from your postman regarding the upcoming candidate's weekends!  To those of you who get invitations--congratulations!  We can't wait to meet you and show you what Olin's all about.  To those who do not, understand that you are still amazing students--our school is just too small for everyone. As someone who believes in fate, this just means there's something else you're meant to do, and I personally wish you the best.

 


kat_and_jordyn_make_dinner.jpgThis past week was our first week of second semester--my fourth at Olin.  To celebrate the end of our first week, Katherine ('14) and I made ourselves dinner--fantastically delicious apple and chicken grilled cheese sandwiches [pictured to the right].  My schedule is quite packed [nearly 9-6 everyday, including Friday SERVice time], so it's taking some adjusting after our five week long vacation.

After a very long bus ride* from the southern edges of South America back to Santiago, a visit home (Portland) and a rapid-fire trip to DC, I have finally settled back into Olin. Like many upperclassmen, I'm living in a suite (a group of six singles sharing common spaces) in East Hall.

The first few days back were a bit harried (What classes am I taking again? Who are all these freshmen? Why did it make sense to pack my laptop and power cord in separate boxes?**), but I'm starting to get back in the swing of things-although I'll admit that when I hear people speaking English in public places I still look around to chat.

To celebrate my currently-fairly-organized life, here's some pictures of my new room-carefully separated into the "sleeping-reading-and-comfy side and the desk-and-caffeine side):

Back Home, ...and then to Illinois.

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year 2012!  I hope you had a satisfyingly-fun celebration with friends and family.  If you made some new year resolutions, I hope you take up the challenge and keep resolving them.  If they aren't that great, enjoy breaking them. 

I'm currently back at home in Chennai, India enjoying a pretty 'chilly' winter (by which I mean 80 degree weather).  In two weeks, I'll be leaving to Illinois to Study Away at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)!  I'm excited for new college experiences, especially since I'll be going from a 330-student school to one with 33,000+ students!
